Where can I get a ferret in California?
It is very illegal to have a ferret in California or Hawaii. If you are caught with one you will get a 2000-5000 dollar fine. You can not have a ferret, im so sorry, but they are working on legalizing it but i doubt that will happen because if they get lose they eat wildlife and have no predators. There are no stores which sell them or anyone who owns them. Sorry.
They’re illegal and if you’re caught with one its a high fine and usually the ferret is consficated and euthanized whether you like it or not. Vets in cali are required to report illegal animals if someone has one. Don’t get one just wait until they legalize it. Edit to the person that said ferrets have no predators. Um you are mistaken. Very mistaken. MOST domestic ferrets that get loose are neutered/descented and end up killed. Wolves, coyotes,foxes, badgers, birds of prey, large cats..there are TONS of predators in Cali & all over the states for ferrets. Stray dogs and cats….CARS and PEOPLE (Teens that torment them when they catch stray pets)…Most ferrets end up dead within the first 72 hours if they get loose. They don’t have the instincts wild pole cats have. They won’t be able to find their own food unless fed live prey from the time they’re a kit. Out of my ferrets only ONE would know what to do with a mouse. They’re DOMESTICATED and again I repeat they have NO idea what to
