The Pierpont Community and Technical College, which has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students, offers an associate’s degree in emergency medical services. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue entry-level basic, intermediate and advanced emergency medical technician (EMT) employment. Students in this EMT training program learn how to administer medication, communicate with patients, apply the concepts of pathophysiology and pharmacology and perform patient assessment. Graduates of the program are prepared to work with public and private emergency medical services providers, hospitals and aero medical services. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Registry of EMT’s Paramedic examination.
