Candidates for the Senators are in the website of COMELEC. In the First District of Cavite, re-electionist Rep. Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo “Jun” Abaya of the Liberal Party (Atienza wing), a retired naval officer and PMA graduate and who recently passed the board as a lawyer, is up against incumbent last-term Mayor Jessie “JBC” Banyad Castillo of Bacoor who is with the LDP Party. Castillo and Abaya are both allied with the proadministration coalition. Mayor Castillo since his first term as mayor has been an ally of President Arroyo. It was he gave her a convincing victory in Cavite over Fernando Poe in 2004. Bacoor is the only town or city in Cavite where GMA beat Poe. Castillo supports the whole Team Unity. His wife is running for mayor against Strike Revilla, the candidate of the combined Lakas-CMD-Kampi coalition.
