Where can I find the hook-up chords to tape off the radio?
Try Radio Shack. They sold that radio under their Realistic flag. Model DX440.To answer your question you will need a mini plug to what ever the input of your recorder is (i.e. RCA or 1/4″). The Radio Shack version (DX-440) of the Sangean 803a DOES NOT have the “tape out” jack like the 803a. I modified my DX-440 to add the jack. You will get MUCH better recording quality by using the ‘tape out’ jack than by using the headphone/speaker jack. The jack, however, is a 5 pin DIN connector. I forget just what the pin arrangement is for left/right and ground (it is in STEREO!) and the signal level is more compatible with “microphone” inputs than “line” inputs. I used an old cable that came with my Commodore VIC-20 ! It had the 5 pin DIN plug on one end and split to two RCA plugs on the other. I used RCA to 1/4″ adaptors to get into the Mic inputs of my component cassette recorder.
