Are you familiar with worldcat.org? It’s a big online union catalog, listing the holdings of some 50,000 copies worldwide. It lists three different Chinese translations of ’James and the Giant Peach, as you can see below. Unfortunately, they are all very scarce, having been published in Taipei, and they are listed by worldcat as being in only one or two libraries each. The most recent version is entitled ’Guai tao li xian ji.’ It was published in 1995, and according to worldcat, there are two copies in American libraries, one at Oakland Public Library and one at San Francisco Public Library. The second one ’Da dao zi,’ published in 1980, is listed as being at Los Angeles Public Library only. The third one, ’Jiemu yu da tao zi,’ published in 1986, is available at Bruggemeyer Memorial Library in Monterey Park, California.
