Where can I find statistics about people living in poverty for one jurisdiction or for all of Canada?
From the National Council of Welfare (NCW): • Poverty Profile Poverty Profile is a regular publication of the Council that is based on survey data from Statistics Canada. It includes detailed information about poverty rates and numbers, depth of poverty, duration of poverty, common sources of income for poor people, income inequality in Canada and poverty and the paid labour market. Figures 2.1 through 2.20 show the poverty rates by province over time, beginning in 1980. The figures on the top of each page have a line that tracks the provincial poverty rate for all persons. The poverty rates for each year appear as numbers just over or just under the line. By way of comparison, the figures also have a plain line with no numbers that shows the national poverty rate for all persons. • Latest edition is for 2002-2003 • Poverty Profile also includes Web-only data for 2004, poverty fact sheets and links to earlier editions released in 1998, 1999 and 2001 Poverty Profile presents information
