There’s a more effective way to do this than trying to memorize each note of each scale as if they’re somehow unrelated. Rote memorization of scales just doesn’t work. Try this method and see if you don’t go “oh! now I get it” – but give it a try, it only looks hard – it’s really the easier way. Every scale represents a specific key signature. That’s really all a scale is – the notes within a key signature. There are 15 major key signatures. You probably already have a few memorized. For example, no sharps/no flats = C major. 1 flat = F major. 2 flats = Bb major. etc… Now, to play a scale, if you know all of the key signatures, all you have to do is play each step in the key signature. If you know that F major has 1 flat (Bb) then playing F G A Bb C D E F is the F major scale. It’s the same scale in each octave too. So, get some flash cards with each key signature on them and a buddy and just memorize every key signature. 1 sharp (F#) = G major. G major scale = G A B C D E F# G Remem
