Where can I find opportunities for volunteer service or jobs to gain experience in medicine/dentistry?
First, contact your family doctor/dentist and ask them if you can “shadow” them during breaks and the summer (or during the year if you can find a doctor/dentist in Statesboro). Shadowing is simply following the doctor/dentist around and observing what s/he does. Second, contact East Georgia Regional Medical Center’s Volunteer Services Office at 486-1575 and ask about volunteer opportunities. (You might also consider applying for a job at East Georgia.) Finally, but certainly not least, contact Career Services and ask about shadowing/volunteer opportunities that they may have listed in their offices. The director of Career Services is Warren Riles.
