Effective September 1, 2010, laboratories applying for accreditation or reaccreditation using those technologies will not be required to undergo the additional requirements of the Quality Assessment Patient Simulator Program (QAPSP) as part of the accreditation process. However, participation in the QAPSP program remains a voluntary option for laboratories seeking to demonstrate their adherence to the technical and interpretive quality improvement requirements. The cardiac version of the Quality Assessment Patient Simulator Program is still available from the ICANL for $500. Laboratories will have thirty (30) days from receipt of the phantom to submit the results. Laboratories will be required to submit the phantom results/ questionnaire and all images used to make the clinical diagnosis, in addition to, their laboratory’s imaging protocol.
