Where can i find information on subsoiling?
It is basically fracturing the subsoil layer, the layer is often far more compacted than the upper regions where roots are most often found. It is now plowing, it is simply breaking the compacted subsoil layer. By opening this lower layer it is thought to improve drainage and maybe allow roots further development downward…….except roots need to stay where there is oxygen. It is expensive to do as it requires a very strong tractor and a heck of an amount of fuel. If you do your Google search you’ll see where research into injecting material into the subsoil is being tried to improve root development, break up the compacted subsoil is being tried.
