Where can I find details about the design and dimensions of recently built ships?
The Library stocks a publication called Significant Ships (from 1990-). We also hold Significant Small Ships (from 1998-). Both titles are shelved at D 623.81 SIG. The Short Loan Collection contains a set, and copies for longer loan are also available in the Main Library book collection. The latest edition is kept with the Reference book stock on Level 4. Significant Ships is published by RINA and contains illustrations and drawings of the vessels that are being described along with information about the designer and shipbuilder and other descriptive details. The technical particulars (e.g. length, breadth, draught, engine & speed etc) are given along with the ships classification. Details of articles in Significant Ships are included in the abstracting service BMT Abstracts held in the Reference Section on Level 4 of the Library at D 016.6238 Serial. In addition to being able to search BMT Abstracts by subject keyword it is possible to look up a ship name or the name of an offshore st
