Alternative certification requires a 4-year degree, attendance in an accredited certification program and a probationary period of student teaching before becoming certified. ACP programs can certify teacher in subject areas including special and bilingual education, English, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, social studies, mathematics, history, music and art, physical education and health.
