Where can I find a scholarly source on medicinal uses of herbs?

I recommend only one source on medicinal use of herbs. It is called the PDR for Herbal Medications, published by Medical Economics Company. This is the herbal version of the PDR (Physician’s Desk Reference) used by physicians, toxicologists, etc. It is the best and most authoritative source I have ever seen and makes it clear when an herb has demonstrated or simply reported effects to give the reader a fair and balance review. You have to purchase this as a textbook (try Amazon or Barnes & Nobel). It is expensive but it’s a longterm investment. The internet has lots to offer, but accurate, peer-reviewed scientific information is, for the most part lacking. Anyone can be an instant “expert” and put out information on a variety of subject of which they know little about (but have lots of opinions).
