As people mentioned, checked with local lodges and veterans groups (VFW, American Legion, Elks, etc…) If the city/county you live in operates parks, they might have pavillions, buildings, or halls you can rent. We do this with the City if Milwaukee on occasion and a building that will fit about 100 people runs about $200. The nice thing with this route is you can bring in your own caterer. Next, try local restaurants and/or corner pubs. Look for indepentant restaurants and pubs, not “chain” ones. This will take some leg work, but if you are lucky, you can find a very nice hall with good food for cheap. We found a small corner bar in a Milwaukee Suburb. The place looked like a dive from the outside, but the inside was quite nice and the food was excellent. We had a terriffic buffet style dinner with 3 different meats, two veggies, a starch, plus salad, raw veggies, bread, and such for under $15 a person.
