Where can I find a good cardioid microphone?
One of the biggest frustrations of people with hearing loss is that they strain to hear people across the room. Ideally, we would like to have a microphone that we could just point toward the speaker and hear the speech without the other surrounding noise. Although a cardioid microphone is designed in a way to focus more on ‘front’ sounds, it still picks up surrounding sounds and does not work well for people with hearing loss. A better choice is a hyperdirectional microphone, which has the most sensitivity in front of it and would only pick up the speaker’s voice. This is not to be confused with an omnidirectional microphone, which picks up everything. Bluetooth would work well, because you can select either the directional mode or the omni mode, depending on how many people are in the conversation.
