Emmy nominations were announced today. It’s very exciting for all those in the television industry, as well as all the individuals who love watching TV. Emmy awards are given away to a variety of categories pertaining to the Television industry. Many of my favorite HBO and Showtime shows made the cut for at least one of the Emmy nominations. Weeds, True Blood, Entourage, Californication, United States of Tara, Big Love, and Dexter all received at least one Emmy nomination. Of all of these, I am most excited about Kevin Dillon’s Emmy nomination for his role as Johnny Drama in Entourage. Finally, Drama is getting the recognition he so deserves. Other network shows that received nominations that I am excited about are House, CSI, Deadliest Catch, Desperate Housewives, and Nip/Tuck. Although Hugh Laurie didn’t get an Emmy nomination for his roll of pill popping Dr. Gregory House, I sure hope that the show House walks away with at least one award. Emmy nominations 2009: Winners and losers … ‘The Shield,’ older dramas left out “The Shield” was the biggest loser, and the most undeserving, in the Emmy nominations announced this morning. In general, the nominators stayed true to their patterns and trends of recent years. All but one of the best-drama nominees was a cable show, and critical fave “30 Rock” scored its usual fistful of major nominations. They did recognize the ascent of new blood like Jim Parsons, giving the “Big Bang Theory” star a well-deserved best-actor nomination in the comedy category – though the show itself didn’t get nominated.
