Where can I exchange money in Cuba? Is it possible to withdraw money or pay by credit card?

Foreign currencies like US- and Canadian Dollars, Euros, British Pounds and Swiss Francs can be exchanged into CUC in any exchange office within the country without any problems. Please bear in mind that you will be charged a 10% extra fee from the total amount when exchanging USD into CUC. Traveler checks as well as credit cards will be accepted throughout the country unless they are issued by a US-American institution (e.g. AMEX). Thomas Cook traveler checks will be accepted without any problem. You can withdraw money with credit cards (Euro/MasterCard, Visa, Diners, etc.) from any cash machine and at any bank office in bigger cities. Since the cash machines in Cuba do not always work properly we recommend bringing enough cash.
