Where Can I buy Petri dishes and agar nutrients?
Suggestion – go to the University of Sydney web site. Go to one of the biology depts like molecular biology or microbiology. Look up the faculty and their research interests. Find one that works with E. coli. (Anyone who does DNA cloning, recombinant DNA, works with plasmids, etc.) Call or email and tell them what you need. I can virtually guarantee they’ll give you 10 petri plates with agar already in them, sterilized and ready to use. That will save you a lot of time and effort. (Note – if the first prof you try doesn’t work with E. coli, just ask him/her to suggest a colleague who does.) Good luck!
