Where can I buy local produce on the Kohala Coast?
Year-round Farmer’s Markets in Kailua-Kona, Waimea, Honokaa and Hawi offer a wonderful supply of fresh tropical fruits and island vegetables. When you do some cooking on your BBQ at your vacation rental on the Kohala Coast, don’t miss the Fish Market in Kawaihae, across from the Mexican restaurant. You can buy fresh catch of Mahimahi, Ahi, Ono and Snapper Mondays through Saturdays. Kawaihae also has a great outdoors fruit stand, next to the Blue Dolphin, where you can get the best strawberry papayas and apple bananas. There are also big markets for getting groceries in Waimea and Waikoloa, which are just a short drive from the coast.
