I need to connect a scale (USB connection) that resides in a hazardous location to a computer in a non-hazadarous location. I’m told that I need a barrier to protect the field unit (which is Class 1 Div 1 approved) from any power surges coming from the computer. Hense the need for a barrier on the USB connection at the computer end. I am using a standard Dell Optiplex desktop computer.
