Where can i buy a bottle of Acetylene for my gas cutter?
as far a I know you can’t “buy” gas bottles – you have to take out a rental contract for the use of the bottles, then pay for the initial and subsequent refills. The most widely available is BOC (British Oxygen Company) and you will find a local bottle depot either via the net or yellow pages or similar. To open an account you have to provide your bank details so they can set up a direct debit mandate to take the initial payment and then the future yearly bottle rental charges. If you wish, after the initial sign up you can pay for the gas by cash or card if you prefer. Oh yes, a tip: if possible change both bottles at the same time (even if the oxy has not run out) as there is a handling charge for their collection and delivery (to their depot), cleaning, refilling and safety checking. And if you do one on it’s own **** law will happen and the other will run out the following week! Another supplier is Air Products – but they appear to charge more.
