The Bilingual Education Technical Assistance Centers (BETACs) offer staff development and technical assistance for all educators. Staff at the fourteen centers provide resources and training on issues pertaining to educational programs and services for limited English proficient students/English language learners (LEP/ELL). They are funded through contracts from the New York State Education Department’s Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies. The mission of the BETACs is to enhance the development of knowledge and competencies of educators, parents, and local communities needed to support the academic excellence of LEP/ELL students. The BETACs provide the highest quality technical assistance to promote equity and excellence in the education of limited English proficient students/English Language Learners in New York State schools.
