If you get a travel card for all zones (1 to 6) you will be able to travel anywhere within these zones, your route will be fine, in fact brixton is in zone 2 so you could get a travel card with less zones (which will be cheaper) and be fine. With a travel card you can travel on trains, tubes and buses within your cards designated zones.
