She is a minor and therefore cannot enter into a contract with a publisher. And don’t try and lie about her age or yours because that is a nice way to get yourself into a whole lot of trouble. The publisher you mentioned is one of those cheesy on line things (Like lulu and that ilk) that publish EVERYTHING that is submitted (if the person is of legal age) and it is NOT real publishing. You kids think it is, but I guarantee you they are taking advantage of you. So are the rest of the on line sites of this type; they are commonly referred to as vanity publishers. Real, legitimate publishers generally do not work with unproven authors, they pay you for your work, and they certainly don’t work with minors. Given that you made a point of mentioning your sister’s age, though, it might be best to post the work on a blog such as www.blogspot.com. If you need a paper copy, you could always print and bind the book yourself. Make the cover by gluing several sheets of paper together, laminating a piece of decorated cardboard, or stapling a sheet of felt to a piece of cardboard. Punch holes in the covers and the pages, and then tie it all together with a few pieces of twine.
