Where are there fractional milemarkers?
The Advanced Regional Traffic Interactive Management and Information System (ARTIMIS), based in metro Cincinnati, developed and posted a system of markers with fractions as well as miniature route shields for better identification of given locations (see http://www.artimis.org/system.php ; the technical report (45-page .pdf) on these signs, “Evaluation of Reference Markers” [KTC-01-16/FH-94-3F, June, 2001] by Jerry Pigman of the University of Kentucky’s Kentucky Transportaion Center, is located at http://www.ktc.uky.edu/Reports/KTC_01_16_FH94_3F.pdf ).
