The County/Waste Management proposal was to be located approximately 3 miles south of the Fair grounds on Hwy. 45/52 near the Iroquois river. The City of Kankakee/Fred Barbara and Tom Volini proposal would be located approximately one mile west of the Fair grounds on Hwy 115 next to Mini Creek which empties into the Iroquois River. Both dumps would impact the Iroquois River just upstream from where the Iroquois River empties into the Kankakee River. This is also not far upstream from the Aqua Illinois water company intake pipe. 2. Are the dump proposals done deals? Answer: No, Both have legal hurtles to get over but the Fred Barbara/Tom Volini proposal with the City of Kankakee is further along in the process. ( Update: The Waste Management proposal with the County of Kankakee has been defeated by the incorporation of the Village of Sammons Point.) 3. Is POWER challenging both dump proposals?
