The Crown Estate controls leasing of the seabed for offshore windfarms around Scotland. There are ten exclusivity agreements for offshore windfarms in Scottish territorial waters (waters within 12 nautical miles or approximately 22km of the coastline), two large zones for offshore wind development in Scottish offshore waters (beyond 12 nautical miles), one deep water demonstrator project and one operational offshore windfarm in the Solway Firth.
