Where are the “falls” in Klamath Falls?
In 1893, when early area residents decided to rename the little town of Linkville (located on the shores of the Link River and Lake Ewauna), a name of “more influential power” was chosen. A small falls existed on the Link River, so the name Klamath Falls was adopted referring to the Native Americans of the region and the excitement generated by the falls. In 1921 the area’s first electric power dam was built on the Link River and the falls vanished.
