Where are the Best Signature Drinks in Portland, Oregon?
I really thought the food was great. It seems very inventive and freshly original. Even items that I don’t particularly like (like beets) were good in the preparation. No complaints there. I ate all of my hen (?) and wanted another one! The rest of my party really enjoyed their burgers. They say they are the best burgers in town. Now, as far as the service, that’s another thing. I’m not saying that the service is bad. What I’m saying is that there was no warmth. I don’t think she ever smiled at us or really looked as us. It was just kinda blah, like robotic. If the table gets cleared and nothing goes wrong, then I guess it’s okay. I just feel like the experience would have been much more top notch had the server acted like she wanted to be there. I do have to mention though, there was a guy bartender who I asked for a taste of something. He was really friendly and excited about telling me about the product. Maybe I should sit at the bar next time.Pros + Really interesting and go
My dad took me to Hubers the first time over 50 years ago when I was just 10 years old. I remember thinking that it was a special place even then. A few years later I worked downtown and would go there for lunch a couple of times a month and always loved it. Somehow it kind of slipped off the radar in the last several years and even though we eat out a lot we never thought about Hubers. Last night we were in the area so I took my wife there for dinner and discovered that they still know how to serve great food at a great price. The service was spot on and the place has a certain comforting charm to it. (except for the chairs I think those are left over from 50 years ago) you would think they could invest in something more comfortable. I had the ham dinner and it puts Honeybaked to shame, moist, tender and full of flavor and a nice size portion. My wife had the turkey and loved it. The side dishes of applesauce for the ham and cranberries for the turkey were like homemade and
unless you know someone. i was at slow bar with a friend and we were ignored and then curtly dealt with by the waitress….until the owner came to talk with us because he is friends with my friend. then she treated us like gold. it was unbelievable. since then, the service is always horrible. i guess i should only go there with my cool friend…but they have an amazing burger, so it is worth the needlessly rude servers.
Ok, here is my first review when I had a good experience: I really liked this place. The happy hour apps are nice and the drinks are tasty. The bartender guy (Jason maybe?) is really nice and I really enjoyed everything. I thought the sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy. They were nice and hot and served with a perfect dipping sauce. The “spicy” caesar is really good too. I would definitely go back to this place. It’s not like many places in Portland where the servers ignore you and expect 20%. This place is more “normal” in that regard. Check it out!Ok, now here is another review that I would like to share with you since I went there again and the experience was quite different: I went there with some friends late at night, and even though we ordered food when they were slowing down, it took forever. Also, we could never find our server to get more drinks. When someone came to our table, we tried to order a drink but he said that he doesn’t take drink orders because he’s not a s
