Yet another great addition to what is becoming a great downtown Las Vegas nightlife scene. The Citysearch comments about Wednesday nights are now outdated. Currently a super crew of guys are spinning on Wednesday nights, for an event called “Fantastic Damage”, spinning anything from underground 60’s funk and soul, some 70’s rock, a little house, a little hip hop, some 80’s new wave, a little jazz….it goes on and on. Spin magazine did a nice write up on them a couple of months ago. The basic musical rules are: all genres, all vinyl, all night. There is no cover and drink special are offered too. The 1st Friday of every month features “The Get Back”. The place is packed to the gills with great dj’s spinning very underground 60’s and 70’s funk and soul among a few other things. Saturday nights features dj’s spinning more electroclach, punk, and Britpop. Occasional live bands appear as well. Most nights feature a dj spinning something other than the predictable plastic schtuff you get o

After seeing the endless line at the Jet, we decided to go to the Evolution instead. It is very easy to find, as a huge neon sign with pink alphabets saying E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N in the middle of Mirage. The doorman was really friendly. Go-go dancers will greet you while dancing within the ‘O’s part of the neon sign. You will find lots of seating where people can actually socialize (unlike other clubs where you will have to pay $200 for a bottle to sit down). Bartenders were nice and the music was really good. People were civilized, well dressed, young yet mature. Best of all, there was NO-line up. Oh, did i mention the gigantic sink where men and ladies will share in the restroom. Very nice if you want to meet real people and chill. Pros + No Line-up, lots of seating with socialization opportunities, classy peopleCons – can’t think of one

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Las Vegas and I love introducing friends to it. The tapas style menu makes it great for small to medium sized groups. You also get a lot of variety for a very reasonable price. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and this is my list of favorite dishes and the ones I’d pass on.FavoritesArtichoke toasts- My boyfriend who doesn’t even like artichokes, likes this one.Stuffed Dates- Great flavors and textures. The sweetness from the dates and saltiness from the bacon and blue cheese are such a wonderful combination. The red wine reduction really brings it all together and the almond adds a nice crunch.Albondigas- Just well done meatballs in marinara.Ham and cheese croquetas- Fried meat and cheese, it’s a little hard to go wrong there.Merguez- A flavorful lamb sausage served with red pepper and tomato confit. The sweetness from the confit compliments the slightly spicy sausage nicely.Firefly* fish sticks- Fried tilapia fillets with

This small lounge was pefect for pre-O cocktails. It was very serene inside – the space was gorgeous, as were the employees. Although the banquets were reserved for bottle service, we were seated at one anyway, which we found preferable to sitting at the bar or at the long table that stretched the length of the lounge. Interesting mix of music – as we walked in, 50 Cent was playing, but that quickly changed to 80s hits. The Oreo Shake martini was one of the most creative dessert cocktails I’ve ever had, and the small carafe it was presented in was a nice (if not puzzling) touch.Pros + beautiful space, delicious drinks, not crowdedCons – expensive
