Where are the Best Pilates in Austin, Texas?
After looking at pictures on their website, I thought the spa looked nice. I thought their prices (even the member rates were high) were inflated but figured you were paying for quality and the spa experience. Was I wrong. My sister and I were escorted to the waiting area, which was actually the hallway to all treatment rooms. Built with stone, to say that it sounded like a cave with an amplified echo factor is no understatement. While waiting, there was so much foot traffic it was distracting and to make it worse, the door to the nail room was open and 2 nail techs were talking loudly and incessantly about some annoying subject (shopping??), all the while their entire conversation loudly and clearly reverberating down the hallway. While waiting there for 15 minutes, at least 5 employees walked through the hall and never even considered shutting the door. Finally, their client i.e. me, got up and shut the door. Gary Ames is not only an awesome, knowlegeable pilates instructor who is so dedicated to results, he is also a phenominal human being.I am a middle aged woman who never exercised her whole life and am now looking forward to my 3 times a week with Gary. I am seeing results, building muscleand having fun. I fell so invigorated.And, his prices are so reasonable.
I am writing to let everyone searching for ?the best? salon in Austin for highlights and lowlights to stop looking any further. Go to Skye Salon and ask for Laura (although the others are likely just as good). I am a lawyer from LA and I am particular about my look for work. I had gone to Vidal Sassoon for more than 20 years because the quality of hair coloring and cutting is consistently outstanding. I tried two other places in Austin and at one, I was there for hours and at the other, my hair was over-processed. A nightmare to try to fix. I read reviews on CitySearch and found Laura at Skye Salon. I checked the reviews at Yelp too and took a chance. You should too. Laura is excellent with color –both highlights and weaving in darker shades– a superb stylist, experenced and thus quick. The rates are reasonable and comparable to other salons. First, the little person with the screen name ‘ga8625’ has posted an incredibly viscious, personal attack against Bryan Lepley in this review section. I can only assume that this ***** (and I assume a woman) has a personal vendetta against Bryan. Maybe he didn’t drool over her tush because he has a beautiful wife. Maybe he didn’t drool over her BMW (go figger). She apparently has the same level of self-motivation as Bill Clinton going to marrage counseling. Bryan doesn’t drool…he sweats, and he motivates me to sweat and work MY tush off, as I train twice a week with him in his spinning classes. Obviously the overall tone of her posting illustrates a destructive rather than constructive ethos on life.
