Where are the Best Pet Services in Austin, Texas?

We’ve been bringing our dogs here since they opened in the nineties, and I knew Kit and Fran before that. The prices are reasonable and there has never been an issue that hasn’t been carefully tended with me being notified immediately. Once my dog had a medical situation while in the tub. The situation was handled calmly with my involvement every step of the way. This is the kind of service I expect from a professional in ANY field, which is why I choose to send our terriers to these folks. We’ve referred at least a dozen of our friends and acquaintences to West End over the years and they’ve all been satisfied. I also recommend them to the total strangers reading my post :)Pros + great care for our pets, great location, reasonable pricesCons – none

I contacted Dog Duty to clean the backyard of my new house which had previously been occupied by two dogs. I prepaid them with a credit card over the phone so that they could come out while I was at work. When I arrived home that day, there was a trash bag filled with dog excrement in my front yard. While I was not pleased with this, I thought maybe it was not part of their service to haul away. Then, I was appalled when I stepped into my small backyard. Over the course of the weekend I picked up 15-20 dog piles that they “missed.” I could not wait for them to come back on Monday since it was Easter weekend and I had children coming over on Sunday. I left two messages over the weekend and received a somewhat apologetic phone call on Monday saying they would issue a refund to my credit card. When I still had not seen the refund, I called back to see when I would get the $48.71 back on my card. The woman said that they would not give a full refund but would reduce the charge to $43.30! U

We’ve taken our dog to Taurus @ McNeil location several times for daycare & overnight stays. At first, everything seemed great – the service & our dog came back exhausted, which is a sign to us that she had a lot of playtime. Now it varies, some days she comes home acting as if she’s been caged up all day & wants to play all night long, some days she’s exhausted-which is a sign she’s been very active. There were miscommunications from the staff, they “flagged” our dog as a dog who can only play w/ staff but never told us until we inquired about her behaviors after pickups (they apologized & adjusted the bill). We just want to make sure we get our money’s worth, & we’re unsure if this is the case. We will continue to proceed with caution. Pros + Convenient, Socialization (some), Always availableCons – No report card, vague communication, inconsistent results

We LOVE Bark-n-Purr. They carry nutritious and healthy food and treats, brands you can’t find elsewhere. I agree with the other reviewer about their limited toy section — but, they have a good selection of pet beds, their health section includes organic and herbal remedies along with the basics, and their leashes/collars selection is much higher quality than at other pet stores. But by far, the best thing this store has to offer is the staff. When we first adopted our dog, we were brand new to pet ownership. The BnP staff were such an asset to us in getting started. They’re very knowledgable about all the products they carry, so they can make informed recommendations you can trust. They have a frequent buyer card for food, and they even let me return items when I lost a receipt. You just can’t get service like that at the bigger chain pet stores. The only potentially negative thing is that prices on some items are a little higher than average, but it’s worth it for the better
