Where are the Best Margarita in New Orleans, Louisiana?
Moved to New Orleans from Mexico for a job and had a hard time finding a place with good mexican food – then I found Carreta’s. Carreta’s has managed to create a very similar restaurant experience as one would have in Mexico, except the service. In Carreta’s defense, the night I was there there were a lot of people, nonetheless, I was not happy with the amount of time it took for my server to bring my food and drinks. Additionally, I did not appreciate the extra charge when I requested for more tortillas. Que onda con eso, no chingues. Pros + Good Food, Nice Live Music, Great DrinksCons – Service, Extra Charges
The editorial review is spot-on. And echoing the previous user review, this place is a bit tricky to characterize: at times it can be divey, college-crowded, low key, neighborhood crowd, or all of the above. They make a great mojito, and they have various flavored versions. The decor is unbeatable, particularly the mosaic of glass in the ladies room! They have a dark mellow atmosphere and the crowd is diverse. Good place to start or end the night. They have a great patio in the back, and a pool table. Good jukebox too. If you like this place, another great neighborhood bar is the Kingpin, nearby on Lyons and Prytania. Pros + good mojitos, mixed crowd
Just when you thought the French Quarter couldn’t get any weirder…. Along comes Flanagan’s Pub — a real cool Irish pub — with an attached Italian restaurant called Gigolo Gianni’s. You can literally shoot pool and knock back a Guiness, while ordering a manicotti or muffaletta and tiramisu for dessert. Ya gotta love it!!!Pros + excellent food, low prices, friendly staffCons – can’t think of any!
My wife and I went to “Nach Mamas” on a whim along the stretch of Magazine St. that is packed with restaurants.I had a traditional Enchilada dish, while my wife had a steak and bleu cheese wrap that was out of this world. The service was terriffic, and we left stuffed. If we were to do it again, I think we would split the wrap, because even the lunch came in huge portions.I don’t usually encourage “splitting” meals, but the size of the meals were tremendous. I have lived in Dallas, TX, where Mexican food is expected to be the real deal. Nacho Mamas was the real deal, and I haven’t had a true Mexican meal since leaving there.I think it’s worth a shot. The prices are reasonable and the food is, like I said, out of this world. The presentation, the taste, the service all make it worth the trip.Pros + Great Authentic Mexican Food; Imaginative MenuCons – None
Margaritaville, New Orleans, was a surprise for me. Never having visited more than the Las Vegas location, I wasn’t disappointed in the drinks, food, or service. In fact, the coziness of the N.O. location made it feel a little more “homey”. The drinks are always top notch, the food is…well, some items are just plain bar and pub choices, while others are a little more involved. There is something on the menu for everyone. The service was good but a little disoriented when we were first seated; I never had to wait on anything so no complaints, it just took a while to figure out who our actual server was. Each member of management came by and checked on our satisfaction; some hung around and had “tourist” conversation, which I personally welcome although some do not. Everyone was friendly as I expected, and yes there are alot of tourists there so the crowds come and go. The gift shop is like any of the other locations, a little cramped but had plenty of choices for merchandise.
