Where are the Best Margarita in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
My friends and I have been going out to El Loro once a week almost for the past year. We have visited tons of mexican places in the metro and El Loro still has the best mex food by far, hands down. I get the enchiladas every time–the food is mild, yet tasty. Cooked and seasoned just right, not too salty. They have spicer items on the menu if this is what you like. But if you like overtly spicy mexican food this probably isn’t the place for you–try Chipotle instead!!! Some of us just don’t like our mouths to be burnt off everytime we eat Mexican!! Don’t get me wrong, I love Chipotle, but El Loro is a nice change of pace at times.The chips are the best in the metro–not overtly salty like their competitors. Nice yellow, mild corn chips.The service however, is hit and miss. Sometimes it is good and prompt, other times, yes as people have said below, the waiters/waitresses just don’t seem to care. I debated between selecting “recommended” and “average” as my rating for this restaurant and concluded that I would be doing a greater service by lowering your expectations before you go. The problem with Tejas is consistency. We live in Edina and this can be great place to grab drinks after or before a movie or lunch while shopping, though you never know what you are going to get. For the prices, you should always receive great food and dependable service, this is not the case. Our servers have, more often than not, been very good, but we have had two who have been inadequate. Our experience has taught us to write down the names of those we have liked and to specifically wait for their sections on future visits, this makes a big difference in the experience. Find a good one and stick with them and at least the service aspect of the experience will be good. As far as the food is concerned, if they are very busy, the food quality seems to drop off. I went to this place expecting some great mexican food. There was nothing special about this place except for it’s decor that lures in all of the high rollers. The food I admit was not bad but the service sure was lacking. Also, they charge you for the chips and salsa! What kind of mexican place charges for the chips and salsa! Not to mention the chips were probably made a week ago and weren’t worth the energy to chew them. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been to Pepito’s, so I was worried about some of the reviews I read here. We decided to give it a try and were glad we did! We weren’t on a budget, but there was a good choice of prices on the menu. The two tacos could feed a small family for $7.50. The enchilada was so stuffed with chicken it was a meal in itself, but I had to also finish the relleno as it was EXCELLENT! My vegetarian daughter loved her choices. The margaritas were marvelously mediocre and WAY overpriced. We could have been more frugal with our menu choices and drinks but it was still only $23.00/plate with generous tip for server ( great service at 9pm sat.) and valet.( definite bonus on a sub-zero night!)Pros + good choice of dishes/pricesCons – Expensive margaritas
