Where are the Best Margarita in Chicago, Illinois?

Last night my boyfriend and I visited Adobo after getting rave reviews from friends. While the guacamole and margaritas were excellent, the chicken tamales and meat skewers were disappointing. My boyfriend had a steak dish, and it was so rare it was uneatable. The service was great as was the outdoor patio. While I would return for guacamole and drinks, I would not return for dinner. Overall, I felt the food was overpriced, and simply not that good.

The food here is ok but I think they are better known for their drinks. I had the chicken with mole sauce but it wasnt too spectacular but their fresh guac was fabulous. It was a little too loud in the restaurant and the service was minimal. This place is just average on my scale for Mexican food.

The food just seemed OK. The ceviche was mushy and pretty nasty (our fault for ordering ceviche in Chicago). The rest of the food was just OK if overpriced. I would eat there again, if the prices were cheaper. The place is popular because of the celebrity owner, who was there, and was nice enough. Bottom line, save a trip downtown, unless you need to impress someone with a trendy place. We found 2 other Mexican places in town we will be sure to return to.

It seems like there are an abundance of Mexican restaurants in my neighborhood. We had been to Caesar’s (self-proclaimed “Home of the Killer Margarita”)… but a friend recommended we come here instead. Don’t get me wrong, Caesar’s margaritas are really good, but Mayan Palace’s are just as good… Not to mention that, but they’re half price on Tues/Thurs. Also, the food is way better than Caesar’s, and probably one of the best Mexican places I’ve tried in Chicago thus far. Try the Ceviche appetizer or Chicken Fajitas. Everything always tastes fresh, and the staff is really nice. I could eat their chips and salsa all night long, and the way they keep bringing you more, they’d probably let me! The ambience is better, too (more hip restaurant, and less “bar-scene”). The restaurant space is cute but a bit crowded, so when it’s nice out, try the covered back patio! Pros + Food, service, margaritas!!Cons – Make reservations on Fri/Sat eves

Seems they are not ready for large groups. No serving utensils unless asked, no salt and pepper.Need to give patrons dishes to fit the size of food. We got small saucer size dishes for quesadilla’s that hung over the plate. We got larger plates when we asked for them. They need more practice on serving the food and what to put on the table. They do serve more than enough food for everyone. The guacamole was awesome, I could have eaten the whole bowl of it. The workers were very cordial and pleasant. I will go back. The food is worth it. Maybe not with a big crowd.
