Never had a problem with No Way Jose’s. They usually have a sandwich board sign out on the sidwalk advertising the specials and the beertenders are aware of whats posted. Good chicken wings but haven’t tried the dollar tacos. As far as one of the posters complaint about the homeless, those people are constantly up and down the street in search of cash. Just learn to ignore them, it’s the people who give them cash that makes it hard on working stiffs like us. Never seen any “homeless” people in Jose’s either

We’ve been there twice. The first time the food was decent, tasty – comparable to Baja Fresh. The second time it appeared the chef left early. My mother-in-law was in town and I was extremely embarrassed. Thus, if you’re trying to impress a special someone, this is not your joint.Pros + 1 more strikeCons – Poor chef

Reading the reviews we were expecting a wonderful Mexican meal. I guess we should have been more wary when we saw a few other patrons in the place enjoying their CHEESEBURGERS. The chips and salsa were very good, but the rest of the food…disappointing. I ordered their house-made sangria, which was tasty, but the fruit was very soft. As if it had been frozen with the ice in the glass. YUCK. I bit into the apple expecting to get a crunch and got smoosh instead. Not good.My husband ordered the combo fajitas, and while they sounded good, sizzling on the way in to the dining room, they looked pretty bad. It looked as if they had cooked the meat earlier and just reheated it and threw it on top of the onions in the pan. Plus they were way overcooked and dry. The seasonings also looked as if they had just been put on the meat. Again, not good.I ordered a combo plate with three items. The pork tamale – wonderful! Delicious, generous and covered with a yummy tomatillo sauce. M

I love this place. It is a great local bar. The menu is a bit limited, however they have the BEST crabcakes (1/2 priced on Thursday night). Mojitos are their speciality drink, however the bartenders know how to make everything under the sun. The view is the best, right on the harbor.Pros + crab cakes, atmosphereCons – parking lot is small

I moved from Baltimore to San Francisco in 2002, and I miss Gecko’s so much. Even in the SF Bay Area, where there are 100’s of amazing restaurants to choose from, I find myself craving Gecko’s. Their margarita with Tobasco (sound gross? Its AMAZING) and their unbelieveable blackened shrimp Caesar salad with pinenuts and feta cheese are my absolute favorites. Great friendly staff, too. I’m so happy to see one of the places from my old ‘hood doing well.xoxoPros + GREAT food, GREAT Margarita list, Friendly staffCons – Smoky bar area, sometimes gets noisy, street-only parking
