Where are the Best Highlights in Seattle, Washington?
I was approached by Catherine on the 1st day of the West Seattle Street Fair. She gave me samples, and said she was a stylist at Shanti. She was very exotic looking, and young and fresh-faced. I didn’t know there was an Aveda salon and spa in West Seattle, but it is really far north of the junction, where I usually spend my time. I went again to the street fair and I saw another woman with Aveda samples, so I had to get more. She was the owner, and she made sure I had sunblock on my face -which the product was nice, not too greasy. She was spraying the kids with flower water to cool them off. I saw her and another stylist on the last day of the fair and, I really connected with her with that stylist, …we have similar hair, her name is Megan. She gave me the best cut today I ever had. I also saw Regine an instructor from the Aveda Institute for a manicure and pedicure. She was so sweet, and also does skin care, and massage at Shanti, I asked her why she also didn’t cut hair! But, then
I’ve worked with the new owner many times as he has been the hairdresser on the set of several model and advertising photography shoots at my studio. I was well aware of his positive personality and dedicated passion for color and cut, and always enjoyed working with him. When I heard he had bought the salon in Everett I was excited to finally have someone of his level so close to home. My schedule is difficult and getting into Seattle for an appointment with a designer hairdresser almost impossible so I’ve had to suffer with substandard color and cut for years. I called Absolut Hair Salon on a Saturday afternoon, very short notice and explained to Skye who answered the phone that it was the only time I could get in before a big event. She sweetly told me she would see what she could do. I was called back very shortly and told to get in asap, Jessee would fit me in after his last set. I needed a lot of help with my dry, over processed mess. I walked out with soft, healthy rich chocola
For you quick readers:They just moved to a new location downtown and expanded their services. Been going to them for over a year now for haircuts, and recently started getting massages there as well. The new place is super nice, staff is always extremely hospitible and they have great personalities.Haircuts: Great haircuts for dudes, a bit more expensive then the quick haircut places but cheaper then the salons and MUCH higher quality haircuts than either. Worth every penny, I’ll be here for lifeMassage: Ali is F’ing amazing, she has the absolute perfect balance of pressure and comfort which makes every bit of difference in a massage. Again, a bit more expensive then the mall joints, but cheaper then the high end salons and EVERY bit as worth it.Manscaping: I hate admitting it, but I get my eyebrows waxed every month or so. I’m lazy and don’t want to pluck, so spare me the riducle. None the less my eyebrows still look like a straight man’s dude brows when I leave and th
I love the Gary Manuel Salon. The staff at the reception desk are professional, friendly and always helpful. Everyone at the salon provides a great environment. I love going there. I also love my hairstylist, Michelle.I know from painful experience with other hairstylists that my hair is not easy to cut. I went to Michelle after another stylist at a different salon massacred my hair. Michelle was warm, understanding, and quickly gained my confidence with her straight forward honesty. She performed magic! I have seen Michelle many times since. She always manages to find different cuts that work for my hair so that I am not stuck with the same look. She is also a goddess when it comes to hair color, including highlights and lowlights. Michelle is passionate about her work and it shows in the results.Sometimes I am really adamant about trying a new cut that is way out of character for me. The cut was beautifully executed and I would live with it for about a week. Unfortuna
(cue Edda James singing “At Last”) (lol) I finally found the perfect place for me!My hair is naturally curly but I wear it smoothed out often. I’ve been in Seattle since March of 09 but have had nothing but mistakes, bad cuts and mediocre color with each place I tried. Someone at work recommended I try Lisa’s Salon out after seeing me have one too many bad hair days. From the moment Lisa’s receptionist answered my neurotic call – My hair troubles in Seattle have been over! It’s obvious that all that work there LOVE what they do – and even though my appointment was at the end of a day – they had just as much enthusiasm as if I was their first client. The consultation was super fun — super thorough – and gave me the confidence I needed to have to know that I was in good hands. My cut is THE BEST CUT I’ve had in years — literally! I walked out of the salon feeling great – looking great and excited to come back for coloring. Thank you SOOO much Lisa – for helping me reme
