Where are the Best Highlights in New York, New York?
I always have a little anxiety pre-first time visit at a new salon. I was immediately put at ease when I walked in- what a friendly, fabulous receptionist! I worked in customer service for many years, and I really appreciate being treated so well. I felt like I’d been coming here for years. I got there early, and was still seen almost immediately after I arrived. I never felt as if they stylists were rushed or that I wasn’t being given their full attention, even though it was a busy Saturday. Not once in 25 years of getting my haircut have I ever had a stylist show the genuine interest and concern in making me look my best, that these two did! I only wish I’d found Bodhi sooner…so I would not have suffered as long as I did with unmanageable, dry hair that didn’t suit my style or personality. Adeline discussed at great length with me what would look best for me, while also really listening to what I wanted. My color looks AMAZING! I’ve received so many compliments – My boyfriend say
I was told by every other hairdresser I consulted; “It doesn’t get any better than this!”My hair is very fine, as it has been thinning for most of my adult life, but never did it cross my mind to get a hairpiece. It was not until the 2010 New York Fashion Week that I realized my envy of the models for their beautiful long hair. While watching television, I found that the runway models at the Vassilios Kostetsos (who’s hair was fantastic!) were sporting Rodolfo Valentin’s custom hair pieces! I thought of it as an omen and made an appointment to see him right away. Within two days I was sitting in Rodolfo’s chair at his beautiful oasis on Madison Avenue ‘thinking this is the place I need to be!’ After much research I found that no one in this area has as much education or hands on experience with hairpieces, making him the master of artificial hair. His assistant was a jewel — so friendly. I was shocked at how incredible I looked and felt after leaving the salon. Bu tthe true s
I’ve had my hair cut and styled (and permed) by Rodney for almost 10 years and going. He was recommended to me by a friend of mine who swore by him and after having my first hair cut with him, I understood why she would be such a loyal customer. My brother in law has been working in the beauty industry for over 20 years and has an eye for hair cuts and coloring — and he has admired Rodney’s handwork on my hair every year I see him at family functions. I can go there with utter trust that he would do the right thing for me.As for the salon, he had recently moved to Roy Teeluck and I was truly impressed with the care and service I received there – they not only serve the usual tea and coffee but wine! The place is also very cozy and beautiful, and I got a complimentary manicure by Edith, who did an amazing job with my nails.Came out of there glowing with new hair and new nails.Pros + Excellent skills and eye for detail and balance.Cons – None that I can think of.
I really like Susana! She is an AMAZING color specialist. I will continue going to her always. Her energy is amazing and she always delivers a complete haircolor, no rush, with conditioning. I never feel like they have overbooked her and I never wait. However, there can sometimes be a bad vibe in the rest of the place.you get to see them while your hair is cookin’ A little bitchy at times, and stressful…Glad to be in the back room most of the time with Susana and having personal space! I don’t understand the extreme hype. Honestly, I think some of the citysearch reviews are written by management.Pros + EXCELLENT haircolor by Susana…Cons – owners hover a bit too much over their staff
