Jaime is the BEST hair dresser and colorist there is! Believe me? I had been a client of my sister, who is also a hair dresser for years. And consistently been unhappy with creativity or lack there of, her attitude about what SHE wanted to do with my hair? not me, and her lack of knowledge. I had heard that Urban Betty was one of if not the best salon in town. I decided to fire my sister as my hair stylist and finally see someone knew. I picked Jaime from her profile online? she oozes creativity, warmth and patience. Nervously, I went to her that first time and she did something my sister never did? sit down with me and listen to what MY goals and desires were for my hair. And she has been doing exactly that ever since. The last three times I went to see her I requested something totally different from the previous time, and each time she said it was no problem, had a can-do attitude, and each time my hair was a knock-out! She is such a kind person, easy to connect to, and on top of to

I was just at the salon for a wedding I was a attending for my cousin. The bride, her mother, mother of the groom, other cousins, maid of honor, matron of honor, bridesmaids and other family members were all here. There was whispering among us, bad past history, crys of sadness, crying of joy and the salon actually helped us keep an even keel. They were very zen if you would say. I felt tacky for the way I was acting and they created a very safe environment for me. They listened and then gave support and love for us all. Very strange experience for me. Not gossipy or belittleing. Just reminding us that family is all we have …….for better or worse. Forgive and comfort. Well, there was one typical stylist telling us of her drama and problems with boys. All about her, while she coughed up a lung. Well everyone did excellent bridal hair. I mean excellent. We had fits and bad comments about each other and the salon swooped in and got involved and “fixed” our issues. The

I’ve lived in Austin for 2.5 years and have had my hair hacked, fried and miscolored at 5 other salons and have paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars for that disappointment. Then I met Laura at J. Thomas.Laura’s sweet disposition made it easy for me to express what I wanted. Not only did she listen, but made suggestions on what she could do to compliment my frame and facial features. I walked out of the salon that day looking gorgeous! My next visit, I trusted Laura with my hi/lo lights. I was pleasantly surprised when she got my color spot-on the first time (this is the first time I haven’t had to go back for a correction since I moved to Austin), then she cut and styled my hair in less than 2 hours! Once again, I walked out looking absolutely beautiful!Listening to Laura talk about how she’s done people’s hair for various events, I smiled at hearing how much joy she gets from making her clients look beautiful when she styles our hair. She has such passion that shows throu

I started going to Lisa when she was at a salon off Slaughter and Manchaca. She was the first person who could make my naturally wavey hair work for me. She’s also the very first person I trusted to color my hair. She moved to Salon Bali (still in South Austin) and I moved with her. She was so kind as to continue to provide me with the details of her move. I’ve been to see her at Salon Sirrah when I was working up north. Now that I am working and living in South Austin it has become to time and gas consuming to travel all the way up. If I wasn’t in such a financial crunch right now I would continue to travel north to see her. I reccommend anyone to visit Salon Sirrah and ask for Lisa Lehmann!Pros + Expert with color and precision cutsCons – North location is too far for me to drive

I am writing to let everyone searching for ?the best? salon in Austin for highlights and lowlights to stop looking any further. Go to Skye Salon and ask for Laura (although the others are likely just as good). I am a lawyer from LA and I am particular about my look for work. I had gone to Vidal Sassoon for more than 20 years because the quality of hair coloring and cutting is consistently outstanding. I tried two other places in Austin and at one, I was there for hours and at the other, my hair was over-processed. A nightmare to try to fix. I read reviews on CitySearch and found Laura at Skye Salon. I checked the reviews at Yelp too and took a chance. You should too. Laura is excellent with color –both highlights and weaving in darker shades– a superb stylist, experenced and thus quick. The rates are reasonable and comparable to other salons. Another plus is that the salon is in a central location and there is ample parking; Laura, the staff and the owners made it an e
