Where are the Best French Fries in Providence, Rhode Island?
I picked up some pizzas from Town Spa Pizza over the weekend. The one thing that I really liked about their pizzas was that they were generous with their toppings – unlike a number of national chains and local pizzerias. I did find it a little greasy, but the crust was nice and crisp (not burnt) as I had asked them for extra crispy crust. They do say (on the box) that the pizza contained MSG – just FYI.Pros + Generous toppingsCons – contains MSG
I have been all over the U.S. for four decades searching for the perfect hamburger. I’ve had the original at Louis Lunch in New Haven CT (they claim they invented ’em), and tasted a Trailblazer at the Spar Cafe in Olympia WA; I’ve had Chipotle burgers in Santa Fe and cheeseburgers in Nunavut, but I have to say, the Stanley Burger is the best darn burger I have ever tasted in all those years. I didn’t know about their Central Falls location, but when they opened in Providence, I thought I’d give it a try. I thought it might be one of those fake retro places like Johnny Rockets, but no — Stanley’s is the real thing. If J. Wellington Wimpy really were alive, he would stake out a spot on Point Street and approach every pedestrian, telling them “I’d gladly pay you Tuesday, for a Stanley Burger today.” Who would have guessed that the answer to a lifelong quest was right in my own back yard! Stanley’s uses a small. flattened patty and a blend of onions and pickles that ought to be regis
This place is truly a gem in North Attleboro. I could eat there every night making my way through their extensive menu. The fare ranges from (of course) soups to salads, to hot and cold sandwiches to full entrees. The entrees are good enough to be at a fine dining establishment, but served on a plastic plate which makes them incredibly reasonably priced. They do take out or dine in, and if you’re nearby take out may be the better option as there isn’t a great deal of seating space. If you’re ever in town, you don’t want to miss out on this one!
My girl and I have been there twice now and sat at the bar for dinner and some drinks. Both times had the same bartender and it was the worst service I have ever experienced at any bar. You would have thought customers were lined up 5 deep all around the bar. She would disappear for 10 minutes at a time consistently. Then when she finally returned she might ask one person at the bar if they wanted another drink and then just walk away for another 10 minutes….. We had to basically interupt her to get another drink. And when we finally would get her attention she acted annoyed that we were asking her for something. Like I said, we have been there twice and she was working both times and the experience was exactly the same. I’m not sure if she is the regular bartender or just works Tuesdays but that was a brutal experience both times. We live close by and like the food and atmosphere but unfortunately will never do anything other than takeout from now on……..Pros + Food a
I have been going to Wrights farm for over 20 years and always enjoy eating there. Their food and method of operation never changes which is just the way the people that love going there want it. My only complaint with Wrights is the fact that they have never accepted credit or debit cards claiming they “pass the savings on to you”. Despite the fact I still feel their restaurant is great and will always be a customer there, I have to take note that their prices have steadily rose over the years and never level off for long. As of this writing the price was $10.75 per person. Not too heavy a price, but certainly no bargain anymore on a dinner of cheap items like bone in chicken, pasta, fries, and salad. Their prices have always gone up even while other restaurants seem to holding the line, AND excepting credit cards. I can’t help but feel that Wrights is no longer passing on any savings to us, (if they ever did) but pocketing and profiting well on price increases. Pros + Great
