Where are the Best French Fries in Nashville, Tennessee?
Ok, Noshville is across from where my sister worked for years, but I never had the chance to eat there. Today, while going into town, I thought I would give it a try. A good friend who keeps kosher is coming to Nashville for Thanksgiving and I thought I would try the place out so I would have a kosher place to bring him, when he visits. So, I parked at the market next door and went in. The hostess was an older lady, who seemed inattentive, unpleasant and not to interested in giving a cheery welcome. While I don’t expect a cheesy, fake welcome, but at least seem happy that you have customers, is my thought. But quickly I was seated and served promptly. They didn’t have sweet tea, which greatly perturbed me given that it is a VERY common beverage in the South, even though they had bar and two types of lemonade. The server, unlike the hostess, was pleasant, attentive and earned his tip. The food was good, but unlike what I had thought before coming there, it was NOT kosher. I am not Jewis
If seating and ambiance were better, ‘Mos would get an overall 10 from me. There is no good seating. Being a converted Taco Bell it still has a very “packaged” fast food feel. As far as the food goes the burgers are some of the best I have had. The only criticism I would have is they have a slight “frozen” taste. The spicy fries are without a dought the best around.Pros + Good price, good foodCons – Seating, Crowded during lunch
So I returned to Brown’s on a misty autumn afternoon, eagerly anticipating what would prove to be a mind-relocating culinary experience. Upon my arrival to the heart-warming facade, I was promptly seated by the Maitre’d, Bill. The tables, accented with crimson and taupe checks, reflect a simpler age, an age where burgers and frito pies aren’t demonized for not being organic and containing simple carbs and transfats. If you’re looking for health food, go to Whole Foods you wimp; if you want real American food, Brown’s does it better than anyone. Wonderful burgers, addicting fries, and beer that could have only been chilled in the diminishing Arctic circle, are staples of this family-owned establishment. This is the most American restaurant this side of the Mississippi. If you don’t think so, you are likely French… or a communist.Pros + Ambience, Flo, OwnerCons – I’m not there right now.
