Where are the Best French Fries in Detroit, Michigan?
Everytime I can’t think of anything to eat, I think of J. Alexander’s(West Bloomfield). I love the lighting at night in the resturant. Very low;gives you a relaxing feel. I have had almost everything on the menu :). Dishes on the menu I reccommend…Baked Potato soup Alex’s SaladGrilled Chicken SaladVeggie BurgerCountry ClubMr.Jack’s Chicken Finger platter(and they are big things of white meat chicken. Not kid Chicken Fingers)Rotisserie Chicken with Smashed PotatoesCilantro Shrimp(Very Good, but has a little bit of a after taste to me, but thats just me)When I go there I always try to sit in Candice’s section. Very Nice waitress, friendly, takes care of business!!!!
I love the burgers. I hate the wait, the too close together tables, and no room anywhere at all to stand/sit and wait for a table because its always insanely overcrowded. Not to mention that if you got a table in the bar you are most likely eating your burger with someones rear end in your face. Oh and did I mention the screaming hostess who trolls through the bar endlessly calling out for people who are no longer there because they put their name on the list and then left. Why won’t you please just expand? The burgers are awesome and I crave them. Last time we decided we’d do an early bird special and get there around 5:30pm on a Saturday night so there would not be a long wait. We were so wrong. There was a 75 minute wait and absolutely no where to wait for a table. So we left and ate elsewhere much to my dismay. Pros + Good brew, burger, and fries. Cons – Too long of a wait, too small of a space.
Joey’s Meat Cutter Inn is the perfect bar for the Eastern Market area; a bit frayed around the edges, but bustling and as friendly as a welcome haunt. Don’t try to get a Daiquri or a Cosmopolitan from the bar keep, you’ll be advised to stay with the beer. And, when you order that beer, they’ll ask if you want a glass with it. Joey’s has a burgeoning reputation for it’s one pound hamburger sandwich–and rightly so. This is a two fisted meal only the most voracious appetite should attempt to finish at one sitting. Five possible combinations come off this basic burger, and all are unique in flavor. A bit less daunting is the same burger in a half-pound offering. (The wait staff thinks anyone ordering this is a “wimp”). The bar also features dinner specials that might appeal to those who are not certified carnivors. Pure fun!Pros + INEXPENSIVE, great juke box, great hamburgersCons – low brow, shot and beer only
Blue collar Detroit through and through. Great, inexpensive food served quickly. Try the chicken on a pita, it’s my favorite! Popular with the Ford crowd at the nearby plant, as well as families and high school kids. Very clean and bright. There is a lunch rush, but the place is huge, and I’ve never waited in line for more than a minute. Waitstaff has very little turnover, they’ve all been there for years and know what they’re doing! They open early and close late. Lastly, they have the best fountain drinks in town!Pros + inexpensive, menu variety, accessible
