Where are the Best French Fries in Chicago, Illinois?

When I was little it was my mom and dad’s favorite thing to do. We would all pile into the car and drive to Rubber Dogs (also known as Gene and Jude’s) The only thing was I hated hot dogs and always ended up running next door to McDonald’s or across the road to Cockrobin (which is gone now). On the rare occasion my sister and I did decide we wanted a hot dog we peeled off all the french fries and ran next door to get catsup. Did I mention I swore up and down as a little kid that I would never ever drag my children to get a hot dog, especially at midnight. But now it’s my favorite thing to do to.It’s a wonderful little hot dog joint with the best rubberiest hot dogs ever (no catsup served) and they pile homemade fries (seriously, you can watch them chop up the potatoes) on top of your dog and wrap it all up. The best part is the tamale. Actually, they are kind of the worst packaged and steamed tamales ever but I LOVE them better than any other. Then there’s the grape kool aid which I

Going to Portillo’s is an experience. There is just so much to choose from and everything is great. It’s perfect for a quick bite with a lot of people, because everyone will find something they like. I’ve been to the one downtown a few times and their drive thru is unbelievably efficient. Very impressive. I’ve also been to one in the suburbs after golf, which also offers a great experience.Lastly, a friend of mine has had a few parties with Portillo’s catering. Very well done!Pros + Tons of choicesCons – Very busy

Al’s beefs are undersized and overpriced and don’t have a real beef tasting sandwich. People who created the other reviews haven’t had a real Freddie’s Beef on 31st St. in Bridgeport! I tried Al’s the other day after reading the reviews and was very disappointed at the taste and high price of Al’s. Go to Freddie’s. Your review will change!Pros + NoneCons – High price, food just okay

My friends and I came into town to watch the Cubs game from Los Angeles. After the game we stumbled into The Irish Oak just looking for a beer before we went home. A couple of beers later we ordered some food from the menu. Everything we ordered was great but the Corned Beef Sandwich & The Shepherd’s Pie were the best we ever tasted! The service was great too! Sarah, our bartender was very cool. She was helpful in recommending food from the menu and drinks from the bar. Our short 6 hour stay at The Irish Oak was one of the best parts of our trip to Chicago.Pros + Great food and beer selection.

Despite reservations, my wife and I waited 90 minutes at the bar before we were seated on a recent Saturday night. The bartender was clearly unequipped to handle his job and while we waited for a table, we also waited for our drinks. Once seated, we immediately placed our orders…and guess what happened next – we waited! It took an hour before we were served our caprese salad and pasta dishes. The only thing that prevented us from leaving was the thought of writing this review. While the caprese salad was good, the pasta dishes were difficult to choke down. The spaghetti and veal was extremely greasy and the pasta and salmon dish had to be a mistake – it tasted like overcooked fish jerky in a burnt red sauce. Throughout this grueling expereince, it was clear the wait staff was unhappy – largely because they may have been understaffed and because the clientele was unhappy. The couple sitting next to us both sent their pasta dishes back – the woman’s lasagna was cold in the mid
