Where are the Best Exotic Drinks in Seattle, Washington?
My wife and I had just started watching a japanese animated series called Bartender and it actually got us interested in cocktails (dorky, I know, but that’s how we roll). We wanted to find a place that had wonderful drinks made by a man who knew what he was doing. Doing a search on google found Drinkboy, which is an excellent site run by a man who knows his drinks. So my wife and I went out on a limb and went here. The location is somewhat hard to find. The bar is located on the second terrace of the Pike Hill climb, which is about half a block south of Pike st., and then you have to find the staircase doing down to Alakan way, and then you have to remember to look beyond the mexican restaurant. We both missed it on our first try. But boy were we rewarded for our searching! We came in on a Sunday afternoon about 30 min after it opened and at the time the bartender is conversational, and wanted to learn who we were. He seemed genuinely interested in us and made us an excelle
My recent Urban Eats dinner at Red Fin was good, but none of the flavors really blew my mind. My dining partner really liked the spicy tuna poke starter–a little too much onion for me, but I realize not everyone shares my onion issues. For my own starter, I went with the goat cheese and wonton chips and found it to be an interesting, tasty combo. I didn’t care for the accompanying marinated apple dice as the flavor just seemed off. My teriyaki steak was tender, but pretty basic…double thumbs-up on the wasabi potatoes and tempura onion rings, though. My dining partner’s phad thai was, like the steak, very basic in that it was…pad thai. With scallops and shrimp. Desserts were something of a weak link–the consistency of the Thai tea creme brulee just wasn’t quite right, and the cheesecake reportedly too strongly-flavored. Of note, Red Fin serves mammoth portions of food–go there hungry! I had to take home some of my steak and potatoes as a leftover, and I couldn’t finish the
While visiting friends in Seattle last month (I’m from Berkeley, CA) they invited me out to The Sitting Room in lower Queen Anne. We enjoyed the festive atmosphere and delicious appetizers so much on Saturday night we decided to go back again on Monday. This was such a great little place I thought I should help spread the word.On Saturday, the first thing I noticed was the charming owner, who greeted us at the door and promptly found us a clean table in front. The place was beginning to fill up but his friendly manor seemed to foretell the kind of evening we were to have. Our handsome young waiter patiently answered our questions on the unique small plates menu and he soon filled our table with cocktails (I loved the gin drink with fresh thyme) and tasty dishes that more than satisfied (chorizo with blue cheese & dates, cold-smoked wild salmon, and pate made with free-range nitrate-free pork). The other patrons were obviously having a great time too so the infectious spirit carried
