Where are the Best Exotic Drinks in New Orleans, Louisiana?
Margaritaville, New Orleans, was a surprise for me. Never having visited more than the Las Vegas location, I wasn’t disappointed in the drinks, food, or service. In fact, the coziness of the N.O. location made it feel a little more “homey”. The drinks are always top notch, the food is…well, some items are just plain bar and pub choices, while others are a little more involved. There is something on the menu for everyone. The service was good but a little disoriented when we were first seated; I never had to wait on anything so no complaints, it just took a while to figure out who our actual server was. Each member of management came by and checked on our satisfaction; some hung around and had “tourist” conversation, which I personally welcome although some do not. Everyone was friendly as I expected, and yes there are alot of tourists there so the crowds come and go. The gift shop is like any of the other locations, a little cramped but had plenty of choices for merchandise.
We last ate at Port of Call on August 1, 2008. We ordered a Filet Mignon to split. It came with a nice salad with Italian Dressing, two fresh buns, a potato with just butter ( as we requested) and a filet, perfectly done as we ask – medium rare.We have been coming here for the past two years, and always sit at the bar. Its an eclectic bar for sure, but don’t let ancient mariner memorabilia, and dark environs scare you. The place is a gem. The staff have been there for years, and are as much of a reason to go as any. These people treat us like family after being here just a few times. The burgers are great, and the potatoes can be anything you want, as they have more ingredients than you can imagine. We only order the same drinks, so I cant comment on the Monsoons, etc.. But the traffic for them is great. The clientele are locals and tourists – no riff raff. With the turnover nightly, they run a clean ship.We came from San Francisco, and spend a good amount of time here.
Tropical Isle seemed to us to be typical of other dives along Bourbon Street; but we weren’t drawn there for the ambience. It was “the window” we were looking for, that dark slash in the back of the bar from which Hand Grenades were dispensed to the unsuspecting, liquor-hungry throngs streetside. And find “the window” we did. Only moments later, merrily weaving out way down Bourbon, with novelty grenade mugs in hand, did we realize the power of this drink from Hell. Yes, they were tasty. Yes they were easy to drink. But why had we suddenly started wobbling and laughing hysterically. Try one(or two) and find out for yourself.Pros + Keep the cup, Window service
