Where are the Best DJs in New York, New York?
I was taken to the box by a trio of strippers that my wife and I met on a dinner cruse to see the fourth of july fireworks. We did not know that they were strippers at the time. They were really into my wife and really really hot, so we ran with it. The one girl who was familiar with the place talked to the door man. she then told me that we could get in and get a good table if I gave the door man $400. No problem. Also, there would be a 2 bottle minimum. No problem. The table was great! Right next to the stage. The crowd was great; midgets in leather ,hermaphrodites… you name it. The show was great…. midgets in leather, hermaphrodites, acrobats. All great fun. Then I got the bill for the three bottles of champagne….$3000 ! I still had a great time. I will go again. I just hope that the cover charge is not so much this time .PS The strippers split just minuets before the check arrived.Pros + Worlds best freek showCons – very expensive
This is one of the classier “dive” bars that I’ve been to in NYC. The atmosphere is relaxed, the place is clean, and the crowd tends to be non-pretentious. For whiskey lovers, the owners (really nice folks) make sure to stock the bar with excellent premium label bourbon, rye, single malt, and Irish whiskeys. But don’t let the name fool you…The Whiskey Ward has an excellent beer and wine selection and really tasty cocktails. The unlimited peanuts in the shell are also a nice touch. And of course, the bartenders are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I like this place so much that I visit at least weekly after work to play a round of pool and knock back a couple of rye whiskeys. But I also like swinging by for a few drinks when I go bar hopping.Pros + Great liquor, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphereCons – More
i’ve seen some great [free!] shows at the lucky cat–anything from friends’ college-rock type bands to breakcore djs–& although they don’t have it anymore, there used to even be a weekly breakcore night on mondays. mixed drinks are reasonably priced at 6-7$ & their specialty cocktail list is extensive & contains things that actually taste good [!]. atmosphere is nice & comfortable, there are cushioned seats / tables in the front & a stage area in the back with stools at the bar & smaller tables/chairs along the wall with room to dance if there is a band or dj playing. it’s never too crowded, though is sometimes a bit empty, & i’ve met some great people there–incredibly unpretentious given the neighborhood though of course everyone’s still an Artist. highly recommended.Pros + good music, good drinks, unpretentiousCons – sometimes slow
I came to 49 Grove a few weeks ago just to check it out and maybe have some drinks, but as the night passed along a few of my friends and I decided to buy a bottle. From the moment we got seated until the moment we paid the bill we has a really fun time. The waitress was tall and blonde and she was constantly checking in with us, making sure we had everything that we needed. The bottle prices we very reasonable. Later on in the evening we had some more of out friends arrive, the doorman let them in with no cover and no problems. We have gotten bottle service at a few venues now and I must say that 49 Grove will be a venue that we visit again. The DJ was amazing and eventhough we got a few drinks spilled on us by the bachelorette party seated beside us, we had a great time watching them dance. 49 Grove is a great venue to come and have drinks with a few friends, but seems like you could have a really good time if you had a birthday party here. There is a great VIP area secluded from the
Stopped by here on a Thursday evening. The place was prety crowded with after-work people although it tended to clear out a little after 10. There are two levels and they had a DJ playing although it wasn’t loud to the point where you couldn’t have a conversation. Prices are a little high ($5.00 for Coors Light) although they are significantly reduced during happy hour. They have about 4 flat screens on the lower level for watching games. Can’t comment on the upper level as it was closed for a private party. One complaint, however, is the lack of buybacks. We were there for a while and ordered a lot of drinks, but did not receive a buyback. Other than that, it was fine. There’s nothing really special about the place that sticks out, but you can have a good time there.
