Where are the Best DJs in New York, New York?

I just went out on a date in this little lounge bar the other night. It was beautiful. The lighting, the furniture, the atmosphere. Its small enough to be comfy, but roomy enough to be luxurious. The service was pleasant and quick. It was a great place for a first date. The only complaint I have was the bathroom was a little dirty. I realize that that is pretty common all over New York, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. It won’t stop me from coming back to this place. I really loved it. Pros + decor and serviceCons – bathroom

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here recently. Dinner was a set menu of asian-influenced items which came out to about $30 per person. There was a lot of food and it was served family-style. We’d reserved the “lounge” area by the front windows in advance so after dinner, we congregated there. It’s a good thing we did have our own space as the entire place got packed pretty quickly after about 11pm. It was nice to have our own uncrowded place as the entire place is quite small. It started to get hopping after midnight and there was hardly enough room to squeeze through to reach the restrooms at the back. There’s a bouncer that started to ID everyone coming in after 10.30pm. The music ranged from current hip hop and R&B to 80s/90s mixes. The night we went was the coldest night in January and the heat was not working. However, after a few drinks and with the place sardine-packed, I didn’t feel the cold at all.Pros + The set menu food was generous in quantityCons – Small

I would have never thought that I would find myself writing a positive review for Saphires but I guess this is why one should never say never…..I was kind of skeptical going into it because I never particularly liked Sapphires too much because I always thought their drinks were too expensive considering they’re served in plastic cups and not only that but I don’t particularly care for too much rap either and there were quite a few rap artist performing that night. But anyhoo, my girlfriend had taken me to the show because she said I just had to see this lady called Joya perform. Well, my girlfriend certainly wasn’t lying about this Joya chick, she was freakin AMAZING! Fo’ Real! Talk about a power-house voice!!! She sounded as though Mary J Blige & Patti Labelle had an offspring! Moving on…….Now, I had been there to see her preform but what really shockingly surprised at was just how much I enjoyed everybody else! All the rap artist just had the entire place HYPED… BIG TIME

The Roots ‘Rising Down Album release was held at Sutra last Monday night, the venue offered an intimate setting among fans and music industry folks alike. I was about to head home for the night around 1am when my friend texted me that Mos Def was right outside, so I stayed later than anticipated. Lucky that I did or I would have missed the highlight of the night when ?uestlove got on deck and everyone just flowed with it, creating the good connective vibe amongst everyone. The music kicked off and cheers erupted. Mos Def and Black Thought got on the mic and basically rocked it which was very exciting to see. The party went on well past 2am but I can?t party like I used to on a weekday so it was quits for me after they got on. Just a week later I was at the Erykah Badu and The Roots show at Radio City Music Hall and Black Thought actually shouted Sutra out from center stage as the place to be for the after-party. Sutra was packed but not to the point where you simply cannot enjoy your
