Working in an open kitchen must be like working in a cubicle without walls. Freakin’ scary, you ask? No, not just a glimpse of the kitchen over a bar (ala sushi houses) or only restricted to certain seats; but the kitchen literally takes up the majority of the dining area from one side to the other. My gf and i were bored one night and decided to try out some bars in Studio City. Luckily, I live right around Laurel and Ventura and found Clear!! This is now my new favorite place to be specially if you want a Hollywood crowd! Why go to Hollywood If you can stay with in the heart of Studio City? Single ladies gather up and definitely try Clear. The guys are hot, hot, hot! Just had one little problem: It was so hard to get my guy friends in… Because they did have to wait a while because one of them had to wear some stupid flip-flops.Pros + I love how tropical the smoking patio is : )Cons – Smoking patio should be bigger
i love Zanzi! I used to go almost every weekend and I always had a fun time. I had not been there in a while, but when I went about 2 months ago, it was still the same fun place with terrible AC! LOL. The cool bartender guy was still there and the bouncers are pretty cool. The girl bartenders arent really the best… seriously. My sis said that she was charged an extra $4 on her tab, but she didn’t realize it until the next day. She had a girl bartender. I’ve never had a problem with that, but then again, I’ll pay cash and get from the asian guy bartender or someone will buy me drinks… haha. Anyway, the music on Saturdays is pretty awesome. The DJs are cool. Fridays are just okay. More mellow and the music isn’t as great, but it’s not bad either. I recommend this place. Don’t expect a Hollywood crowd (thankfully), but expect that EVERY Saturday night is a totally different crowd. I was there one time when there so many guys! Woo! LOL… and then I was there another t
I’ve probably been here a half dozen times, usually Thursday or Friday nights, and it seems pretty consistent. It’s definitely a ‘dive’ bar, and oriented towards providing drinks cheap as opposed to some of the other places nearby that can get quite pricey.I’m not sure where the people above went, but this place is definitely not trendy. The late night crowd is dresses much better than the after work crowd. I definitely come here to avoid the “trendy” crowd.People there are significantly more friendly than your typical hollywood type (who would kill themselves before coming here), and the girls are more of the hoochie mama type.One thing to note, which causes me to despise this place is that people routinely smoke in here. It’s quite nasty, and the owners/bouncers/whoever don’t do anything about it.Pros + Cheap, Convenient locCons – smokers
