Where are the Best Chicken Wings in Portland, Oregon?
We went as a large group. I had read the reviews prior to going, so felt I was prepared for any “issues” that might have come my way re: tough meat, curt service or over rated food. I didn’t find any of those things. The food was delicious – well balanced, NOT too complex or fussy, and very carefully prepared to bring out the best features of each item. Well worth the prices.Our group tries everyone else’s entrees, and usually orderes several shared aps too, so I had a taste of a wide variety of items. The only item I didn’t care for was the salad greens – don’t know if they were just unusually bitter, or if they were designed to be so – either way, the dressing seemed to enhance the bitterness, so I gave it to my sister, and she ate every bite. Maybe just me.I had duck and it was excellent – a larege portion, so I shared. It was crispy on the outside, pan seered I think after roasting, and purrrrfect on the inside. I’ve been to Muu-muus a few times, so when we were deciding on a lated night dinner this Thursday during the holiday season, we both thought Muu-Muus was just what we were looking for. We walked in and were surprised that even though people were smoking, it smoke in the air wasn’t as bad as other bars (a plus). The atmosphere was great, good music playing, many people inside, but we didn’t feel like sardines in a can (a plus). After sitting down we ordered a peppermint patty (delicious winter drink) and something resembling a mojito which both came promptly and tasted great (two pluses). Our server was very nice, attentive, and helpful (plus). Food came very quickly and was yummy (plus). HOWEVER, just after our food was set on the table, the music changed from a nice worldly tune to “Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo.” (This is a song about a piece of holiday feces that talks, walks, and sings in the cartoon show South Park). Not the kind of song you want to listen to while eating.
As an employee of Twilight for the last 1.5 years I definitely know what every item in the restaurant tastes like. And I have to say I LOVE 98% of our menu items. I have had many years of working with pizza (Godfathers, Dominoes and Dragoos) and know that Twilight has the best pizza that I have come across in the Portland Metro Area. I started working as a cook my first 8 months at Twilight, and then was able to move to the front of the house and become a server. I truly enjoy serving at Twilight and taking care of our guests. We have quite a few fantastic regulars, who I look forward to seeing weekly. I have met many fantastic people and have heard sooooo many compliments about our food, service, decor (the floor and the giant blue paper lantern), our involvement with the community, and the general atmosphere of the restaurant. There are people that drive from Lake Oswego and Woodland when they want pizza. (That is a huge honor, since there are dozens of pizza joints between us
I never would have walked into this place, tucked away under a corner of the Key Bank Building, had a co-worker not suggested it, but wow! I’m so glad I did. I love their food, their service, and their prices! The Hush Hush Chicken Salad is fabulously flavored, the Veggie Messa is a perfect amount of food if you’re looking for a combo plate, and everything else looks great, but because I’m addicted to the salad I have not moved on to other meals. Despite the line that forms during the lunch rush, they funnel everyone in and out amazingly fast and the service is always friendly, and attentive. Check it out, you won’t regret it.Pros + Food, Service, PricesCons – Ambience is a bit sparce, but it’s a lunch spot, not fine dining.
