Where are the Best Chicken Wings in New York, New York?
Ate here for lunch on a Sunday and was immediately seated. I ordered a 2 meet plate (ribs and pulled pork) with mac and cheese and collard greens and my wife ordered the Brisket with roasted veggies and mac and cheese.THe rib were extremely good. Best i have had in NYC. Unlike most places they were served dry and were cooked perfectly, meet still firm but not jerky like (aka blue smoke). The pulled pork was ok, it wasn’t drenched is sauce like most places do it but it didn’t have much flavor.. The sides were excellent, the mac and cheese is probably the best I’ve had period and the collard greens were well balances (most places have it too vingerery or too smokey)My wife’s brisket was ok to thinly sliced for my taste. the roasted vegetables must have been good since i couldn’t get a sample of it.The only reason i gave this 4 start is the price. It is very pricey and while you get a lot of food for the price it still doesn’t justify the high price. However it is cheaper than man
I’m part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We’ve been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we’ve visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). John Street Bar & Grill has a dark, depressing, divey atmosphere, with greasy food, but, with lots of space for pool, darts and decent beer. Our waitress was friendly, remembered our orders and kept our glasses full at all times. It was not crowded, had a hallowed feeling about it, as if it was the place Wall Street crooks came to plot the sinister defeat of the competition.Pros + Decent beer selection & service, SpaciousCons – Dark, Greasy spoon
First of all, let me say the quality of the food was excellent. The appetizer dish and rolls were out of this world. The steaks were prime and the sauces were great. On food alone, this is one of the top 10 steakhouses i have ever been to. However when paying $300 for a meal, you are paying for more then food and the poor service left a poor taste in our mouths leaving the restaurant. The servers were very friend and they started off stong, however seemed to disappear after we were served our main course. We were finished eating for about 20 minutes before any server, bus boy, or anyone acknowledged us to clean up our table and move on to desert. Our server finally brought us our desert menu(after almost 30 min of waiting) and then disappeared again. I finally flagged him down after seeing him at another table 5 minutes later and told him we were ready to order. He said. ” I will be right back to take your desert order” and then surprisingly, NEVER CAME BACK. That was it, we d
Went there twice so far and intend on going back. Great food and staff. First I’ll talk about the food. You must try the corn on the cob!! The calamari was also so delicious! Not greasy at all! Perfectly cooked. We had the steak quesedilla, burger and fries, guacamole, and tuna salad. All were excellent choices. Now about the staff. Something very unfortunate occurred when we were there on our 2nd visit. Someone who was walking out of the restaurant stole my friend’s purse. I can’t even put into words the loss and feeling at that moment or realization!! It was our innocence’s fault as my friend hung her purse on the back of her chair. Well, the staff was devasted! They immediately called the police (who showed up in 5 minutes, which anyone who has ever needed the police in Astoria, know it can take a long time for them to show up). The manager and our waiter were so upset and genuinely concerned. In the end they took off a nice percentage off the check and sent us five comp
Great if you’re around mid-town/Chelsea. I work on 50th and they deliver to our building all the time. The wings are the BEST I’ve been able to find in Manhattan. Great selection as well – Wings, Salads, burgers,etc….. It’s a good atmospher in the restaurant as well verse the average run of the mill place in that area. I also agree with the previous guy about the daily soups – my personal favorite is the crab chowder – but as they say – to each his own. Pros + FRESH salad/chicken, Best Wings I’ve had-Cons – Premium Priced – , but worth it, LImited seating
